A range of activities in Albania has focused on the involvement of men and boys in gender equality and the prevention of gender-based violence (GBV). One key initiative was the creation of the “Be a Man Club”, implemented in 11 municipalities and high schools in Tirana. This program gathered young girls and boys in discussions and debates centered on issues of equality, harmful gender stereotypes, and violence against women (WV-GBV). Around 1,700 young people (both boys and girls) participated in activities designed to engage men and boys in these important conversations. In 2022, 360 young men and 20 education professionals were trained on topics including gender equality, positive masculinity, and GBV. Additionally, a trained group of 11 young people led 16 sessions focused on transforming traditional masculine norms.
